  • Description:
    • To get to Bottleneck Lake you need to drive north of Sandpoint (ID) to Naples (ID), head west from there, and go by the Deep Creek Resort.  I am told that this is where all of the FBI agents stayed during the Ruby Ridge incident several years ago.  On the way to the trail head, there is a short hike into Snow Falls which I have done on a couple occasions now with family and friends.
    • From this point on, Brendon and I pretty much became hiking partners and planned our Saturday mornings around walking in the woods.  This particular day was actually very overcast and rainy, and we even contemplated going on after we got a few miles up the trail.  We decided we should stop being a couple of cry babies and continue onward.
    • It wasn't a difficult hike, but it did get wet and marshy in some places on the trail.  The grade was gradual until you got to about 1 mile from the lake where it increased some.  Bottleneck Lake is located in a granite cirque, and if the weather had permitted, we would have scrambled up to Bottleneck Peak for more views.

    • The 3D map faces north, and you can see Snow Lake in it also.

  • Photographs:
    • As you will be able to tell from this picture of Bottleneck Lake, it was an overcast day and we were more concerned with staying dry than taking photos.
