- After hiking back down from Mount LeConte, I decided to drive up the
road a bit. I generally wouldn't go out of my way to hike to such an obscure peak,
but since I was so close, and Clingmans Dome is a state highpoint, I
went up to the top of state of Tennessee. I guess I
can also say that I have now hiked a section of the Appalachian Trail; a
whole tenth of a mile. I am convinced that state
highpointing in the east is a waste of time and gas money. As you
can see the views weren't that great.
